The ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście summed up the record year 2025

The Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority presented its results for 2025, which turned out to be exceptionally successful in terms of transshipments and revenues. Although net profit was lower than in 2024, the ports noted record results in many business segments.

Record transshipments

Total port transshipment in 2025 amounted  to 34.79 million tons, which means an increase of 7.5 percent. compared to the previous year. Increases were recorded mainly in the following groups: general cargo (including ferry general cargo), bulk cargo, fuels, including LNG (over 30% growth) and containers (44% growth).

The decline took place in coal transshipment, which the port treats as a natural effect of the decarbonization of the energy sector. Transhipments of grain and wood were also lower, reaching record levels in 2024 due to specific contracts of the port operator.

2025 was also a record year in terms of containers: 18 percent more containers were handled across Poland than in 2024, and in Szczecin  the 100,000 TEU barrier was exceeded for the first time.

Finance and investment

The net revenue of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority in 2025 reached PLN 415 million, which is a record in the history of  the ports. At the same time, the net profit amounted  to PLN 144.5 million – the decrease compared to the previous year was mainly due to large investments in the development of infrastructure, which are to increase the efficiency and availability of both ports.

The development of infrastructure brings measurable effects in the handling of larger vessels and cargo. The deepening of the approach track and quays in the Port of Szczecin to 12.5 meters allowed ships with cargoes exceeding 30.000 tons to dock  – previously the average cargo  was 20-25,000 tons. Currently, loads over 40,000 tons are already standard.

The Dębicki Canal and the Kashubian Basin enable the handling of panamax class vessels up to 230 meters in length, draught up to 10.5 meters and cargo up to 50,000 tons. The record for 2025 was set by the Tokugawa ship, which delivered 49,000 tons of soybean meal to the Slovak Quay.

A record year in Świnoujście

The port of Świnoujście also noted many records. In 2025, 80 gas deliveries were handled there, and in November,  the 400th gas delivery in the history of the terminal took place. For the first time, commercial LNG loading was carried out at the new Jetty 2 quay. In November, LNG fuel was also loaded onto a commercial bunker, which delivered it side to side on the TT Line Peter Pan ferry  at the Świnoujście Ferry Terminal.

The year 2025 has shown that the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście are consistently developing their infrastructure, increasing operational efficiency and responding to changing market conditions. Growing transshipments, record financial results and historical LNG deliveries confirm the position of ports as Poland’s main logistic hubs.
