Polish gingerbread

In 2022, Poland was the third largest exporter of gingerbread in the world. According to PIE, based on data from the Central Statistical Office, Poland exported 14.2 tonnes of gingerbread worth almost EUR 44 million in 2022.

In 2022 this amounted to1,8% of the total value of our  export of baked goods and confectionery products.  On a year-on-year basis, this was more than 8% more than in 2021 and 24.5% more in value terms. Since 2019, the volume of gingerbread sales abroad has increased by 31% and its value by as much as 55%. It has become another Polish export hit of recent years, liked and appreciated by foreign consumers.

The year 2023 is already less optimistic than the previous ones, because by October the value of exports of our gingerbread amounted to EUR 30.6 million, a decrease of 12.2%. .

In 2023, Polish gingerbread was exported to 50 countries around the world. The largest recipients of our products in the European Union are Germany (57.2% of Polish exports), followed by the Czech Republic (5.3%), Hungary (4.3%) and Slovakia (4%). From non-EU countries – Russia (8.6%), the United Kingdom (2.1%) and the United States (2%).
