Polish blueberries officially available on the Vietnamese market
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced that on September 16th, 2025, the Vietnamese Phytosanitary Service officially approved the import of fresh blueberries from Poland. This is the result of many years of negotiations conducted since 2017 and, at the same time, the opening of a promising market, which gives new opportunities for Polish fruit growers and the entire fruit industry.

The official permit opens the way for Polish fruit growers to one of the most dynamically developing Asian markets, where the demand for fresh and healthy products is growing. Apples, which for a decade have been building the Polish brand in Vietnam , the time has come for blueberries – another flagship product of Polish fruit growers.
A long road to success
The process of opening the Vietnamese market to Polish blueberries took place in stages. In 2017. Talks between the Polish authorities and the Vietnamese side begun. In 2024, the procedure for agreeing on phytosanitary conditions was completed. In August 2025. in Poland, an audit was carried out by Vietnamese experts, which confirmed that farms and packing plants meet all their requirements. Finally, on September 16, 2025, the Vietnamese Phytosanitary Service issued a positive decision.
Importance for Polish produces
The opening of the Vietnamese market is an opportunity to increase the income of Polish fruit growers, develop the fruit industry in Poland and strengthen Poland’s position as a fruit supplier to Asia.
Polish manufacturers have already been successful in other Asian markets, among others, in India. Now Vietnam joins this list, which further increases the competitiveness of Polish fruit in the world.
The economic context and trade
Vietnam is not only an absorbent consumer market, but also an important logistics hub in the Southeast Asian region. Additional opportunities are provided by the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Union (EVFTA), which simplifies formalities and lowers customs barriers.
The value of Polish agri-food exports to Vietnam in 2024 amounted to EUR 193.4 million, which means an increase of about 10 percent compared to 2023. So far, Poland has mainly sold the following to this market:
- meat and poultry offal,
- intestines, bladders and animal stomachs,
- fish fillets.
The opening of the Vietnamese market for Polish blueberries is a strategic success of Polish agriculture. This decision not only increases the export opportunities of producers, but also confirms the high quality of Polish fruit. Thanks to many years of efforts, Poland gains access to one of the fastest growing markets in Asia.
