Poland on the European map of green exports
The Polish economy is increasingly marking its presence in the area of green technologies, which is reflected in Poland’s export data. According to the report of the Polish Economic Institute “Profitability of green investments”, Polish exports of products and services related to the energy transition have for several years been on an upward trend, both in terms of value and diversification of sales directions.

An increase in the value of exports of green technologies
In the last decade, Poland has significantly increased its international sales of products that are in line with the global trend of decarbonization and sustainable development. The export structure is dominated by:
- equipment and components for the RES sector, including components for wind turbines and photovoltaic systems,
- electrical and electronic equipment with increased energy efficiency,
- solutions in the field of circular economy – among them, recycling and waste processing technologies.
The value of exports in this segment in 2023 was significantly higher than a decade earlier, which confirms the growing competitiveness of Polish companies on European and global markets.
Main markets
The most important recipient of Polish green exports remains the countries of the European Union, with Germany dominating. Which is a strategic partner in the field of components for the energy sector. A significant share are also:
- France – with a growing demand for renewable energy devices and efficient heating systems,
- Scandinavian countries – leaders of the energy transition in Europe,
- Great Britain – despite Brexit, maintaining a high level of imports of modern solutions from Poland.
In recent years, an expansion into non-European markets, including the USA and Canada, has also been visible.
Poland and global competition
Although Polish’s share in global exports of green technologies is still smaller than that of such tycoons as Germany, China and the US, the growth rate is one of the highest in Europe. According to the report, in the coming years, Poland has the potential to increase its share in global supply chains of components for the green economy, especially in industries related to electromobility and energy storage.
Conclusions and Perspectives
The PIE analysis indicates that further development of Polish exports in the area of green investments will require:
- investment in innovation and research;
- adapting the offer to the changing EU climate regulations,
- support the internationalisation of SMEs through financial and promotional instruments.
The development of the green technology sector in Poland is not only an opportunity to increase export revenues, but also to build the country’s position as an important partner in the global energy transition.
