Poland is the third largest exporter of glass baubles in Europe
The value of Poland’s export of Christmas glass baubles in 2023 amounted to EUR 68.2 million, which means that it’s exsport is the third largest in Europe and fifth in the world. The largest markets were Germany (EUR 15.6 million), the United States (EUR 14.8 million) and France (EUR 4.3 million). Although the global decline in exports of Christmas decorations was estimated at 39 percent. Poland defended its sales with only a 7% decline, which proves the stable position of our producers on the international market.

Experts emphasize that the key to Polish’s success in this industry is the need to maintain high quality and long-term relations with foreign partners. Polish manufacturers have invest in modern technologies, while maintaining traditional production methods, thanks to which their products are unique.
Polish glass baubles as a synonym of quality
Polish baubles are gaining recognition abroad not only for their beautiful design, but also for their durability and quality of workmanship. Most of them are hand-painted works of art that win the hearts of consumers around the world. Experts note that “Made in Poland” products are more and more often placed among luxury goods.
The fact that the glass baubles are hand made is one of the key factors that attracts foreign customers. Traditional decorating methods, such as painting or gilding, add exclusivity to the products. Many Polish companies also introduce personalized designs to order, which is met with enthusiasm, especially on Western markets.
Decreasing imports from China
In 2023, the value of Christmas decoration imports to Poland amounted to EUR 46.7 million, the vast majority of which came from China (EUR 36.2 million). However, Poles are increasingly choosing domestic products, which translated into a positive trade balance of EUR 21.5 million. Imports of Chinese decorations fell by 17 percent, indicating an increase in consumer purchasing awareness and higher quality requirements.
Experts predict that this trend will continue. On the one hand, the increase in popularity of Polish baubles is due to their reputation for quality, and on the other hand, to growing environmental awareness. Domestic products generate a lower carbon footprint than those imported from the far corners of the world.
Poland’s stable position in a difficult year
The global Christmas decoration market struggled with a severe crisis in 2023, recording a drop in value from €10.3 billion in 2022 to €6.38 billion. The market leader, China, recorded a 42 percent drop in exports, which contrasts with Poland’s sales results, where the decline was only 7 percent. This clearly shows that Polish manufacturers are able to adapt in difficult economic conditions, using advantages such as the quality and uniqueness of their products.
It is worth mentioning that Polish’s success on the Christmas decoration market is also the result of support from industry organizations and campaigns promoting Polish products abroad. Polish manufacturers are increasingly participating in international trade fairs and industry events, which helps them reach new markets.
Polish glass baubles on the world map
Polish baubles are exported to over 20 countries around the world. In addition to major customers such as Germany, the USA and France, they are also becoming increasingly popular in Asian markets. Japan and South Korea are examples of countries where handmade Polish Christmas decorations are considered luxury products.
The popularity of Polish baubles is also influenced by the growing fashion for unique and high-quality products. Consumers are increasingly looking for an alternative to mass production, and Polish baubles fit this trend perfectly.
The Polish brand on global markets
Poland maintains a strong position as a producer of glass Christmas baubles, despite global economic difficulties. A positive trade balance and an increase in interest in “Made in Poland” products confirm that quality and craftsmanship are the key to success on the international market.
Experts suggest that further investments in product promotion and development can bring even better results. It is also worth continuing cooperation with foreign partners and developing new markets, especially those where Polish glass baubles are just beginning to gain popularity.
