Małopolska – A European Entrepreneurial Region
13.07.2023
In the first week of July, during the meeting of the Committee of the Regions of the European Union, Małopolska received a special distinction in the “European Entrepreneurial Region 2024” competition.
The competition is organised by the Committee of the Regions in cooperation with, among others, the European Commission and the European Parliament. It has rewarded regions and cities with forward-looking visions of developing and supporting entrepreneurship since 2011. Every year, 3 regions from Europe are chosen. However, this year Małopolska was awarded with something more – a special distinction awarded by representatives of the most important European institutions.
The Marshal of the Małopolska Region Witold Kozłowski emphasizes that “in the 13-year history of the competition, the jury has never given any additional distinctions to regions, other than those awarded with the title of ERP for a given year”. Małopolska, while already holding the ERP title from 2016, is the first region in Europe to receive such a distinction.
One of the factors for which Małopolska received such a distinction was its planned activities related to cooperation with Ukrainian business environment institutions, entrepreneurs and support for Ukraine in its reconstruction and European aspirations. The strong regional partnership and the involvement of many institutions in activities aimed at strengthening the business and innovation potential of Małopolska were also appreciated.
