Danone opens a new planning centre in Katowice
The Danone Group has invested over PLN 200 million in a new planning centre, which has started operations in Katowice. Danone’s Planning Centre will be responsible for supply chain and production management in the company’s European factories.

The investment is aimed at increasing the efficiency of production processes and precise demand forecasting with the use of advanced technologies and highly qualified staff.
Danone
Danone is an international food company that specializes in the production of healthy dairy products, plant-based foods, beverages and specialty foods, including products for babies and medical food. The company was founded in 1919 in France and has its headquarters in Paris. Danone is one of the largest food producers in the world, with its products are available in more than 120 countries. Among their most famous brands are Activia, Danio, Alpro, Evian and Nutricia.
The planning centre in Poland
The new centre in Katowice will be responsible for creating production plans and forecasting demand for Danone products. Its task will be to coordinate processes in the company’s factories throughout the European market. In particular, the centre will focus on four main product categories:
- fresh dairy products,
- plant products,
- specialized food, including those for infants and children.
Danone in Katowice
The decision to locate the new planning centre in Katowice was dictated by the availability of qualified staff and Poland’s experience in the implementation of similar projects. The Silesia region, with its developed labour market and appropriate competences, turned out to be an ideal place to create a unit responsible for such strategic processes.
Not only the French see the potential of Katowice as an excellent location on the map of Europe, but also the Americans.
An example is AFL’s modern production centre in Gliwice, which started operating in 2024. The location near the Katowice Special Economic Zone, at the motorway junction, offers excellent transport links, enabling fast delivery of products to customers in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Thanks to such infrastructure and access to highly qualified staff, Silesia is becoming one of the most attractive places for investors.
Technology first
In the planning centre in Katowice, modern technologies will play a major role in order to accurately forecast demand and optimise production processes. Thanks to advanced digital tools, the Danone Planning Centre will be able to effectively manage the supply chain, taking into account factors such as the availability of raw materials, production capacity and transport constraints.
The completion of the entire project will take place in the next few days. This investment is of great importance for the further development of the Danone Group in Europe and will allow for even better adaptation of production processes to dynamically changing market conditions.
