Poland seeks to strengthen exports to Brazil in Brussels
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Stefan Krajewski met with European Commission Commissioners in Brussels to discuss the future of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) after 2027 and measures to increase exports of Polish agri-food products to third countries, including Brazil.

Financing the CAP after 2027
The talks focused on the rules for financing the CAP for the period 2028-2034, under which Poland received a proposal of EUR 24.6 billion to support farmers’ incomes. Mechanisms supporting rural development and flexible mobilisation of funds in response to the needs of agriculture and local communities were discussed. The importance of transparent rules for the allocation of funds and a level playing field between member states was stressed.
Priority: Export to Brazil
Another main topic was the possibilities of increasing exports to third countries, including Brazil. For several years, Poland has been recording a clear deficit in agri-food trade with this country:
- -EUR 1.2 billion in 2023.
- -EUR 992.9 million in 2024.
- -EUR 996.1 million in the period I–XI 2025
The priority is to open the Brazilian market to Polish apples, which is to be the first step towards more sustainable trade. The ongoing phytosanitary risk assessment procedures on the Brazilian side should be completed in 2026. The Polish fruit industry is ready to start exporting as soon as the formalities are finalized. Export experience with Latin America shows that Polish producers meet high phytosanitary standards – in 2025, 5,585 tons of apples were exported to Colombia and 769 tons to Costa Rica.
Support for processing
The talks also covered the role of the agri-food processing sector, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, in stabilising farmers’ incomes and building added value in this sector. The future CAP indicates the need to include support for processing in order to strengthen the entire food chain.
The meetings in Brussels are part of the activities aimed at stable financing of the CAP after 2027 and strengthening the competitiveness of the Polish agri-food sector on non-EU markets, with particular emphasis on Brazil.
