A historic record for Portu Gdynia
In 2025, the Port of Gdynia achieved a historic result — for the first time in its history, it handled over one million TEUs in container transshipments. This is the result of the development of the network of connections, changes in international shipping services and investments in the port’s infrastructure, enabling the handling of the largest container ships in the Baltic region.

Infrastructure Investments and Upgrades
In 2025, the modernization of Turntable No. 2 was completed, which allows it to receive the largest units in the region. An important challenge was the simultaneous renovation of the Hel Quay, which is crucial for container handling – despite these works, the port achieved a record result.
Strategic segments for the port
The Port of Gdynia focuses on segments of growing importance: general cargo, containers and ro-ro transport, while maintaining the ability to handle bulk cargo. Growth was also recorded in the “other bulk” group, which includes fertilizers, aggregates, chemical products and selected foodstuffs.
In a dynamically changing market environment the port can flexibly respond to demand directions. Ships of the new Gemini Cooperation alliance are currently calling at Gdynia, and the MSC short sea service provides direct connections to the United Kingdom, Spain and Portugal. Baltic Container Terminal Gdynia enables efficient operation of these routes, and the ONE Polish Shuttle service increases flexibility in container transport.
Development of ro-ro connections and an increase in transport
In the segment of regular ro-ro services, the port recorded significant development in 2025. The shipowner Lakeway Link has launched a second unit on the Gdynia – Södertälje line, and Finnlines has started regular connections with Belgium, Great Britain, Spain and Finland. As a result, transport in this segment increased by over 18 percent.
Overall performance and financial position
Total transshipment in 2025 amounted to 25.7 million tons, which means a decrease of 4.4 percent compared to 2024. This change is due, among other things, to the energy transition and decarbonization, which is also noticeable in other Polish ports. Despite this, the Port of Gdynia maintained a stable financial situation. The expected net profit for 2025 will amount to PLN 142 million – 2.5 percent more than in the previous year.
