Poland’s tailor-made dual-use offer
‘Poles can do it!’ – you can see it very clearly in the dual-use sector. Polish manufacturers of dual-use technology in the area of security are bringing non-obvious and tailored solutions to the market for dynamically changing needs. Their wide range of products and services can be explored at DSEI 2025 in London by visiting, among others, the Polish national stand organised by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH).

The dynamic development of Poland’s high-tech and dual-use goods industries is due to the complex geopolitical situation in Central and Eastern Europe. It is also the Polish industry’s response to the growing need to ensure safety in the face of increasing natural hazards and violent weather events. The strength of this development is not only the emphasis on the highest quality and reliability of the products offered, but also the ingenuity of Polish manufacturers.
Poland is a country of outstanding, innovative minds and engineers. We are able to develop innovative technologies and give them versatile, non-obvious applications. We not only respond to the current needs of a changing world, but with our solutions we reach as far into the future as possible. In doing so, we ensure the quality and reliability of our products. We prove that the slogan ‘Poles can do it!’ is true. This sets us apart, and this is why Polish companies in the dual-use sector should be seen as a natural focus of interest for international clients and investors, says Marlena Achinger, the dual-use sector coordinator in the Brand HUB project.
Increasingly strong international expansion
The growing demand for modern technologies and innovative dual-use goods for the security area, including the defence sector, creates space for continued growth of a strong and modern industry. This growth is based not only on the introduction of new solutions to the domestic market, but also on an increasingly strong international expansion. Last year, the main export destination for the defence industry was Ukraine, which received equipment worth a total of more than USD 2.47 billion. This was followed by the USA (USD 30 million), the UK (USD 29 million), Germany (USD 21 million) and Norway (USD 17 million).
In addition to large state-owned and private companies, the strength of the Polish dual-use sector is also confirmed by the growing number of small and medium-sized companies and technology start-ups.
The potential for further growth of this sector is enormous. There is plenty of room in the security-related field, including the defence sector, not only for large state-owned companies. However, even the biggest players can benefit from the innovation of start-ups and smaller private companies. It is a good idea to develop platforms and programmes for effective cooperation between them, especially programmes that foster the commercialisation of R&D projects in key areas for the sector, emphasises Piotr Placha, Key Expert at the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.
Poland’s high-tech industry in the area of security and dual-use products offers a wide range of products and systems related to unmanned systems, defence, transport and cybersecurity, among other things. Clients and users from all over the world recognise Poland’s developed industry and its manufacturing capabilities, which enable it to provide complex solutions as well as components, hardware and software.
Cooperation with institutes and universities
Polish manufacturers work closely with research and development institutes, universities and science and technology parks. The growth of this industry is supported, among others, by the Military University of Technology, which provides education in the area of security and defence-related technologies. The combination of experience, science and innovation allows bringing to the market solutions that not only fulfil today’s needs, but also meet the challenges of the future.
Polish companies prove that they can combine innovation with operational effectiveness. Examples such as advanced reconnaissance drones, state-of-the-art tactical communications systems and precision parachute load-shedding equipment show that Poland is becoming a serious player on the global defence and dual-use technology scene, says Col. (res.) Marcin Szymański, former chief of staff of the Special Forces Command of the Polish Armed Forces and an expert on security and military equipment sales.
Manufacturers from Poland’s high-tech and dual-use products sectors will showcase their range of products and services at DSEI 2025, which will take place on 9-12 September in London. It will be possible to learn about the versatile possibilities of this sector by visiting, among others, the Polish national stand, organised by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (N11-140). As part of the project entitled ‘Internationalisation of SMEs – Brand HUB’, the PAIH is seeking to increase the international recognition of the Polish dual-use sector and supporting companies in this sector in their international expansion.
