Industry description
The specialised watercrafts, yachts and boats sector is one of the most prestigious branches of Polish exports. We are the leader in the production of boats from 6 to 12 metres in length with outboard motors, ranking first in Europe and second in the world in this category. The extensive range of Polish companies also includes luxury superyachts.
The Polish yacht building industry enjoys a strong position as a recognised global manufacturer. It has a long tradition and vast experience in building boats and yachts for the world’s biggest brands. It is made up of more than 1,000 companies operating exclusively in the yachting and sailing market, employing around 50,000 people, and shipyards with the potential to produce around 25,000 watercrafts per year.
Polish manufacturers pride themselves on their unique ability to combine classic solutions with a modern and innovative approach to production processes. The extensive use of new technologies allows Polish companies to successively increase productivity and raise environmental standards.

Main industry institutions
The Polish Chamber of Marine Industry and Water Sports (POLBOAT) – established in Warsaw in 2006. The founding members were one hundred businesses in manufacturing, services, water tourism and sports. The months-long efforts of a group of people, including many members of the Polish Yachting Association, culminated in the success and establishment of a higher organisational form, a chamber of commerce. POLBOAT actively supports exporters by promoting the products and services of its members in foreign markets. It works to integrate the business community in the yacht building industry and represents their interests before government institutions and local authorities.
Polish Yachting Association – established on 11 May 1924 in Tczew on the initiative of four sailing and rowing clubs. It is a Polish sports association and a member organisation of the Polish Olympic Committee /PKOl/, European Sailing Federation /EUROSAF/, World Sailing, Offshore Racing Congress /ORC/ and The European Boating Association /EBA/. Its objectives are: to bring together sailing clubs and associations, to promote the development and safety of yachting, as well as all forms of cultural and environmental activities related to sailing. The Polish Yachting Association represents the interests of its affiliated organisations and individuals.
Brand HUB project
Between 2024 and 2029, the Polish Investment and Trade Agency has been implementing a programme to promote the specialised watercrafts, yachts and boats sector. The initiative is part of the project ‘Internationalisation of SMEs – Brand HUB’, financed by EU funds under the European Funds for Smart Economy 2021-2027 programme.
The goal of the programme is to dynamically promote the Polish yachting industry on key international markets – by presenting the offer of Polish companies, establishing B2B contacts and building Poland’s position as a manufacturer of innovative solutions for the specialised watercrafts, yachts and boats sector.
The programme focuses on supporting SMEs seeking foreign trade, technology and investment partners. Promotional activities include:
- Journalist missions to Poland – press trips for international media representatives, enabling foreign journalists to learn about the sector’s technological potential and the wide range of products offered by Polish manufacturers.
- Polish pavilions at major international trade fairs,
