Industry description
The Polish agri-food sector has recorded remarkable successes in international markets in recent years. The value of Polish agri-food product exports reached an unprecedented level of € 53.8 billion in 2024, accounting for 15.2% of total Polish exports. Throughout Poland’s 20 years of European Union membership, the value of agri-food product exports has increased more than elevenfold.
Moreover, this sector generates a consistent surplus in foreign trade – in 2024, the positive balance amounted to €17.9 billion. Food exports thus represent an essential source
of revenue for the Polish economy and contribute significantly to the stabilisation of the country’s trade balance.

The National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR) – Polish governmental agency subordinated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (https://www.gov.pl/web/agriculture). One of the key areas of the KOWR’s activity is supporting development of trade in agri-products between Poland and other countries.
The National Support Centre for Agriculture is also the main body in Poland responsible for promoting Polish food on the domestic and foreign markets.

Flagship Polish food products
Poland is the EU leader in terms of production and export of agri-food products. Practically every segment of food production includes products that are highly appreciated by foreign consumers.
Dairy products
Poland is a leading EU producer and exporter of milk and dairy products. Approximately 30 % of annual milk production is exported. Top export dairy products from Poland: cheese and curd, liquid milk and cream, concentrated milk, milk powder, ice-cream, whey and butter.
Meat and meat products
Poland is a leading EU producer and exporter of poultry meat, beef and pork.
Apples
Poland is a European and global leader in the production of apples, which is one of Poland’s most popular export commodities. Poland exports a significant proportion of its apple production, mainly in the form of fresh apples and apple juice.
Fruit and vegetable preparations
Poland is one of the top EU and global producers of frozen fruit and vegetable food. Polish producers offer wide range of fruit and vegetable preparations, such as frozen goods, jams, pickles, canned products, sauces and freeze-dried foods.
Sweets
Poland is a significant global sweets’ producer. The scale of production and modern technological solutions allow domestic confectionery manufacturers to tailor their product range to the tastes and preferences of even the most demanding foreign consumers.
Cereal products
Poland has great potential in terms of cereal production and processing. The baking industry has undergone significant restructuring and has a modern production base. Polish enterprises offer a wide range of cereal products such as flour, groats, flakes, bran, and pastas.

In the years 2024-2029, the National Support Centre for Agriculture, is implementing a programme of the promotion of the food sector as a part of non-competitive project “‘Internationalisation of SMEs – BRAND HUB’, measure 2.26 of the programme ‘European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021-2027’ (FENG)
The main aim of the programme is presentation of the Polish offer of agri-food products among foreign partners as well as promotion of Poland as country with rich culinary tradition, which is also open to innovation and technologically advanced in terms of food production and processing, with potential for development on foreign markets.
All Polish companies operating in the food sector and seeking foreign partners can benefit from the programme.
